Green with Envy

Members of the Prismatic Guild were hired to investigate “Ikar’s Salvage” scavengers who were retrieving items from the Mournland and possibly smuggling them to the Emerald Claw.

The delegation sent from the guild made their way from Thronehold to Karrnath via a fishing vessel (“The Torrington”), sacrificing comfort for secrecy. They met Theodore Shade at “The Laughing Skull” inn, and began their investigation, not even knowing where the scavengers were located.

Splitting up, Inglebert searched through government documents and found suspicious records, McSmith and Conary tailed one of the scavengers, Sazsrak gathered rumors, and Kessa and Lamnix posed as noble Cyran buyers in hopes of attracting the smugglers - and did so.

While Kessa and Lamnix distracted one of the guards (the tiefling Chant), the others snuck into the warehouse, disabling traps and searching for evidence. Finding evidence of dealings with the Emerald Claw, the group joined back up and captured the lone guard Garick before Chant returned - and quickly disabled Chant, as well, upon her arrival.

Searching the warehouse, the group discovered the Emerald Claw wasn’t the only group the scavengers were working for. They found a series of letters, written on flesh, from a mysterious “-D”. Interrogating Chant, the group soon learned that Ikar had met D while exploring the Mournland - whoever D was seemed to have been set up in the Mournland itself, and that Ikar now rarely left it. The scavengers were now working primarily for D, who was aiding their ‘normal’ work while having them gather rare things. They also found Chant had a Geas on her - and that any attempts to get further information risked killing her.

With some of the scavengers soon to return, the group took to heavily trapping the warehouse with nets, pitfalls, automatic crossbows, and ball bearings - when the scavengers returned, they stood no chance. Even when the leaders attempted to kill their own minions to keep information from the interrogators, the group’s traps and magic kept any lives from being lost.

With their final interrogations and research, the group was able to put together that whatever Ikar and D are doing in the Mournland, it involves collecting plants and beasts for the purpose of alchemical experimentation on people.
